Welcome! I hope to use this blog to share some of the amazing things my class and school does to make learning fun! I have been teaching for 15 years already! I started teaching 3rd grade in a Parochial School, then I was hired to teach 1st grade for three years, was moved to 5th grade for 2 years, and then came back to 1st grade in the district where I attended school. I love that I'm able to give back the the school district that guided me to become the teacher I am today! I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, certified 1-8; a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction; and my Administrator License Pre-K-12.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Hi Friends!
Hope everyone has enjoyed their long weekend!
So I was working on my classroom blog, Shiver Me Firsties tonight...adding a few pages and playing with the layout.  I wanted to add one of those globe thingies to show who has visited but then I decided on using "feedjit"...you know...the one that lists who has visited!  So I figured out how to add the widget and it looked good!  Until I scrolled down to the bottom of the widget and saw the advertisement for another blog.  Now, I'm all about sharing the love in our little blogging community!  People have helped me and I've actually become friends with people that I haven't even met face to face!  Well...this advertisement was for a blogger that personally, I'd be interested in...but I don't think it's educationally appropriate or professional to have on my school blog.  Are you ready?
Here it is:
Curious??  Click here to visit!
See?!?  On a personal level...I'm interested...but I can not have this kind of stuff showing up on my school blog!  I thought it was funny...and considered it a sign that I needed deserved a little night cap before turning in for the night!  Ha! Ha!

I added a few more book sets on my Teachers Pay Teachers store this morning and adjusted the prices a bit too to include shipping.  Go ahead and spread the word to your friends who teach upper grade levels.

Thinking 3-day weekends suit us quite well!  Maybe we could have 3-day weekends through the month of September so that we could transition into school mode in a gentler manner!  :)

Have a great week!

  1. That is too funny! If they are going to make an advertisement, they should at least give you an option to pick what category your blog is and then give you an ad tailored to your blog type.

    1. Maybe there was an option...but I was so worried about getting it off of there before any little eyes found it that I didn't even look! :)

  2. Ha, that is just hilarious! Maybe not the best advertisement for your blog. I'm thinking 4 day work weeks are the way to go all school year! Imagine how great it would be to start each week with an entire day of planning....now that's a lovely dream!!
