Welcome! I hope to use this blog to share some of the amazing things my class and school does to make learning fun! I have been teaching for 15 years already! I started teaching 3rd grade in a Parochial School, then I was hired to teach 1st grade for three years, was moved to 5th grade for 2 years, and then came back to 1st grade in the district where I attended school. I love that I'm able to give back the the school district that guided me to become the teacher I am today! I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, certified 1-8; a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction; and my Administrator License Pre-K-12.

Debbie Diller's Newest Book

Last summer I fell in love with Debbie Diller and purchased all of her literacy books and read them cover to cover.  I've read them again and again and they're full of post-it notes of the most amazing ideas ever!  This summer I'm reading her newest:
I'm telling you what...I can't wait to implement math work stations (totally different from math centers) into my math program!  I'm kind of a rebel when it comes to the way I teach my kiddos and thankfully my principal doesn't make me purchase the math workbooks or hold me accountable for teaching math to my children the way the series suggests.  The series is just too cookie cutter with a lot of fluff and not enough meat...so we do our own thing.  Debbie Diller's Math Work Stations is right up my alley and I can't wait to make it happen in my classroom this year!  It's a must read if you're looking for something to spice up your math program!
