Happy Weekend!
A special delivery arrived yesterday...
Our first iPad arrived! Each of our classrooms will be receiving 6 iPads to use in our classroom. I am so excited!!! We are so lucky to have a Tech Director and a Superintendent that are pretty aggressive when it comes to integrating technology into our teaching...and I'm so grateful that they remember the "little people" in their plans for our district! We were watching Horton Hears a Who and I thought everyone had their attention on the movie until a little guy came back and said, "Is that what I think it is?" And I said, "I think it's what you think it is." And he replied, "It's ours?" And I said, "Yep...it's ours. Want to know a secret? There's 5 more coming." He literally jumped in the air and said, "YES!" Good gracious...I can't wait to see them interacting with our iPads! Many thanks to Angela over at The Daily Alphabet for awarding me with the "One Lovely Blog Award"!
Her blog is so cheery and I love reading her posts! I'm supposed to pass on my award to 15 other "Lovely Bloggers" but I'm going to work on my list this weekend and post it when it's done. I promise!

Are you aware of the amazing talents of Michelle @ The 3AM Teacher?
She has the most adorable digital art and she has an awesome Kevin Henkes freebie right now! Go and check her out!
I purchased my laminator from Sam's Club after school yesterday and I am in love! It's going to make the laminating part of my life so much easier! I can laminate in my pajamas!!! With a glass of wine if I want!!! (Not that I drink wine in the mornings in my PJs...but you know what I mean!) I won't be so overwhelmed with the rolls of laminating that I bring home to cut...well actually my mom cuts my laminating for me...she calls it therapy. But now I don't have to rely on her to cut it out all of the time!
Well...I'm off to do a little more laminating...in my PJs!
Have a great Saturday!
We are getting iPads too. I'm not really sure how I'll use them. Please share how you use yours!

I am new to the ipad/ipod stuff as well. I have a page on my blog with a few recommendations if you want to check it out. the BEST advice I can give is to assign students a unit to use for preassigned games. number or label the pads so they know which is which. I wish someone would have shared that with me! hehe
ReplyDeleteMy parents are also great about iTunes cards. I make sure I remind them of what games or books I buy with them via the newsletters. They love knowing exactly what I got so they can ask their kids.
Hope this helps you some... they are so much fun!

Thanks for the advice Mary! We have to go through our tech director to get apps for our iPads and he has to purchase them from Apple...so no iTunes gift cards for us. I like the idea of telling your parents which apps you have in your newsletters so that they could purchase them at home too if they wanted to...there's so many amazing apps out there!

Thanks Barbara!
DeleteGo and pick up a laminator...it will change your life! :)
I may be exaggerating a bit...but it is super convenient to laminate what and when I want to with no one looking over my shoulder!

DeleteI found the clip art at Scrap Orchard! I wanted something different from what I was seeing out here in blogland and when I saw it I fell in love! Lauren from The First Grade Diaries put it all together for me! She was awesome to work with! Heading over to your blog now to make sure I'm following you!

Hooray for iPads!!! We have them at my school but I have not been brave enough to use them with my kids who are SUPER accident prone! Maybe I should just bite the bullet and do it! :)
ReplyDeleteSecond Grade Math Maniac
We'll be using them on our carpet...just in case someone has butterfingers and drops it on accident! I was also informed that our school has insurance for this sort of thing...which made me feel a little better. Whew! :)
