Welcome! I hope to use this blog to share some of the amazing things my class and school does to make learning fun! I have been teaching for 15 years already! I started teaching 3rd grade in a Parochial School, then I was hired to teach 1st grade for three years, was moved to 5th grade for 2 years, and then came back to 1st grade in the district where I attended school. I love that I'm able to give back the the school district that guided me to become the teacher I am today! I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, certified 1-8; a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction; and my Administrator License Pre-K-12.

Oh my goodness! Oh my gracious!

I didn't mean to quote Chicken Little, but I think my kiddos are done.  Behaviors and attitudes galore are surfacing on a daily basis...still.  What happened to my happy little family?!?  We all used to get along so well.  So we're in "make the best of it" mode with 19 days to go (after today).  We're looking at high 80 degree temperatures today and although that makes me happy, the kids are going to melt...again.

Last week we finished up our Frog and Toad fun!  I always forget how cute those stories are!  I could totally see spending a good 2 weeks on that unit next year!  If you're looking for a good laugh and a fabulous lesson on team work and perseverance...go fly a kite!  The kids had so much fun...only 2 criers and although I was hoping it would be a tear free day, I kind of expected it from a few of my friends.  (They're kind of used to getting everything they want all the time and the fact that their kite wasn't going up when they wanted it to be up kind of put them over the edge for a bit.  After their little meltdown and a little tough love from me, their kites flew and it was great seeing them truly happy at accomplishing something on their own.)
This cutie got her kite up and flying right away...she was giving me tips!  :)
Remember those little frog hopper things I found at The Dollar Tree?  There were actually frogs and toads in the packages!  The kiddos pointed it out to me because some of them had bumps and others were smooth!  Thanks again Dollar Tree for making your cheap plastic toys authentic!  :)  HA! HA!  We used construction paper to make a "Start Line" and started hopping.  I had the kids measure the distances in inches and centimeters and then label their construction paper.  While they were hopping, I walked around and did a quick looksie to make sure everyone could measure in inches and centimeters!

Then we made these fun frogs...
I love making these guys with the kiddos!  They look so great hanging from my ceiling even though some have lost a leg or their juicy fly due to the humidity we had yesterday!  :)

We're also super busy traveling around the world!  Our continent performance is tomorrow afternoon!!  We were on the stage for the first time yesterday!  Another practice today and we should be ready to go!

Oh! Pickles!!  It's Mornings with Mom today (and tomorrow)!!!  Kiddos and their Mommas are coming to school for a donut and juice this morning...I TOTALLY FORGOT!  I remembered yesterday...but I wasn't thinking about it this morning yet!  So much going on right now and I totally need a pedicure!  Keep your eyes up and don't judge me!  :)

Have a great day!
Jenn

  3. Hey Jenn!
Thanks for commenting. Yes, 80 is a lot and it makes me feel a little depressed but I'm staying positive. Last year, a very popular district had over 300 applications! haha. It's insane. BTW your froggies are very cute! :)

  5. There is less traffic going to Miami and some of the Florida airports, but the weather system that's operating along the whole East Coast is probably having a bigger impact on travel.
